The 2024 Summer Artisan Home Tour may be over, but we’re still daydreaming about this luxury home we had the pleasure of building near downtown Wayzata. With a wondrous and stately two-story library as well as a multitude of other custom features, this elegant residence is nothing less than our client’s complete vision come to life. Together with architect JALIN Design , we built a home incorporating everything the client wanted in a living space, complemented by high-end, luxury finishes in every room. Take a look at the end result with us in this artisan home showcase.

From the moment you step through its double front doors, the luxury and timeless beauty of this home is impressed upon your senses. A curved staircase with custom railings and a hand-painted mural greet guests in the entrance hall, and a sparkling chandelier completes the picture of elegance.

One of this home’s most unique spaces is the exquisite library located just off the entrance hall. The client desired a majestic room that inspired wonder and imagination, and our designers were up to the task. A central fireplace flanked by rich alder bookcases and a rolling ladder, together with a stunning chandelier, give this room an enchanting air. We even built in a secret room hidden behind a moving bookcase.

High-end, custom details continue throughout the rest of the main level, including a cast stone fireplace, coffered ceiling, and an out-of-the-way prep kitchen.

Main Level

Upper Level

The defining feature upstairs is the expansive primary suite. A tray ceiling and custom built-ins add artistic flair to the comfortable bedroom, and a spacious balcony offers a commanding view of the property. The suite also features designer walk-in closets and a luxurious bathroom. The curved walk-in shower features multiple shower heads for a spa-like experience at home.

A large loft with a wet bar and tall windows also sits on the upper level, providing the perfect place to relax with friends and family.

Lower Level

The finished lower level is an incredibly versatile space, with a family area, wine room, and a large exercise room with a full-length mirror wall. A full bar built with custom concrete from Living Stone Concrete Design is one of a kind. But the true hidden gem is the home theater, concealed behind another moving bookcase. The theater features a large projector screen and a tiered seating area for movie nights and football watch parties. We also built a small stage for kids to play on and perform skits from.

Exterior

The luxury continues into the outdoors. A comfortable porch can be opened or closed to the fresh air, providing a kitchen and fireplace to enjoy in all seasons. The porch opens out onto a large patio with pristine landscaping, and a stone paver path leads to the renovated carriage house, which is the only remaining feature of the original property.
